Step 4 — Distribution

Platform onboarding, QC standards, and multi-platform launch

Distribution overview

Distribution is the last step of the FAST launch sequence — submitting your channel to FAST platforms, passing their QA and review process, and going live.

Platform onboarding checklist

Each platform has its own onboarding portal, feed spec, and review process. Common requirements:

Technical requirements (all platforms):

  • HLS stream URL (stable and CDN-delivered)
  • EPG feed URL (updating at required frequency)
  • SCTE-35 ad markers passing validation
  • Channel artwork: 16:9 (landscape) + 2:3 (portrait) at specified resolution

Content requirements:

  • Minimum content hours (20–100 hours depending on platform)
  • Content rating / age classification
  • Rights confirmation for linear distribution

Commercial terms:

  • Revenue share terms (typically 50/50 for programmatic)
  • Direct sales inventory splits (negotiable)

Platform timelines

  • Allow 4–8 weeks for major platforms (Pluto, Samsung, Tubi)
  • Roku Channel: 3–5 weeks
  • Smaller regional platforms: 2–4 weeks

Submit to multiple platforms in parallel once technical requirements are met — review processes run independently.

Post-launch checklist

  • Stream URL confirmed live on each platform
  • EPG appearing correctly in platform guide
  • Ad breaks firing (check a 30-min window manually)
  • Platform dashboard access confirmed
  • First revenue report date noted
